      Here's the Science

      A 2000 meta-analysis in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that green tea extract containing both EGCG and caffeine increased 24-hour energy expenditure by 4% and fat oxidation by 16% compared to caffeine alone. The effect is modest in absolute terms but meaningful when sustained consistently over weeks.

      Caffeine's thermogenic and performance-enhancing effects are among the most replicated findings in sports nutrition. A 2020 meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine reviewing 21 studies found that caffeine supplementation improved endurance performance by 2.2%, muscle strength by 3.3%, and muscular endurance by 6.9% on average.

      Capsaicin thermogenesis has a modest but additive effect. A 2012 meta-analysis in Chemical Senses found that capsaicin supplementation produced an average increase in energy expenditure of about 50 calories per day.

      L-Carnitine L-Tartrate is the most bioavailable form for exercise applications. A 2002 study in the American Journal of Physiology found that carnitine supplementation during exercise increased fat oxidation and reduced muscle glycogen use — shifting fuel utilization toward fat at a given exercise intensity.
