      DESCRIPTION

Methylene Blue is one of the older compounds in modern pharmacology — first synthesized in 1876, initially used as an antimalarial drug, and now attracting renewed research interest for its effects on mitochondrial function and cognitive health. Each serving delivers 10mg in a liquid drop format for convenient daily use.

Important: The manufacturer notes that the safety of this product has not been fully determined. This is an emerging-research compound. It is not appropriate for pregnant or nursing women, anyone under 18, or individuals with known medical conditions without first consulting a physician.

What's inside and why it matters:

      1. Mitochondrial support: Methylene Blue acts as an electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain, supporting ATP production — particularly relevant when mitochondrial function is compromised.
      2. Cognitive support: Studied for its role in supporting memory, focus, and neurological function. Research interest has increased significantly in the context of age-related cognitive decline.
      3. 10mg per serving: A low, research-relevant dose delivered in liquid form for flexibility — take directly or add to a beverage.
      4. Biohacker and researcher audience: This is a compound for people who actively research what they put in their bodies. Read the science before starting.

      Here's the Science

Methylene Blue's mechanism in the brain involves inhibition of monoamine oxidase (MAO) and guanylate cyclase, as well as its role as a redox cycling agent — it can accept and donate electrons, which allows it to bypass blockages in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. This is why it has been investigated as a potential neuroprotective compound.

A 2016 randomized, placebo-controlled trial published in Radiology found that a single low dose of methylene blue improved human memory encoding and retrieval on functional MRI testing compared to placebo. The authors proposed that enhanced mitochondrial efficiency in memory-related brain regions was the likely mechanism.

Animal research has shown methylene blue's potential to reduce amyloid plaques and tau pathology — the hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease — but human trials for neurodegeneration remain preliminary. A Phase 3 clinical trial of a methylene blue derivative (LMTM) for Alzheimer's showed disappointing results in the overall population but suggested potential benefit in patients not on standard medications.

The compound has a long-established safety record at clinical doses used for specific medical conditions, but supplement-level chronic use in healthy adults has not been studied long-term. The 'low and slow' principle applies here — start with the suggested dose and monitor your response. Do not combine with serotonergic medications (SSRIs, MAOIs, triptans) as this combination carries a risk of serotonin syndrome.

Suggested use: 20 drops (1ml) orally once daily, preferably in the morning. Can be taken directly or added to a beverage. Do not exceed suggested dose. Not for use with serotonergic medications.
